Full disclose: I saw this on a plane. Any movie is automatically worse on a plane through not fault of the film.
The weirdly great Wreck it Ralph gets a sequel. Which is a little encouraging to be honest. If you liked the first one you’re most likely going to like this one.
Great animation, obviously fun voice acting, and a good message. When Venelope’s game breaks, She and Ralph head to the internet to try and buy a new part for their game. But Venelope finds a new game she’d rather play whereas Ralph likes their life as best friends hanging out every day. What happens when your best friend doesn’t want to do the things you want to do?
The message is a really good one for kids. Friends grow up and grow apart. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still be great friends. It will just be different. Ralph Breaks the Internet tells that moral effectively and with sympathy. It’s very much a kids’ movie but I believe in highly rating kids’ movies that is more than the sum of their fart jokes. If you’re an adult the novelty may wear off but if you have kids, this is a great film to watch with them.
3 out of 4 stars.
