What if you died and went to heaven. And it is wonderful, everything you’ve ever imagined, besides the crazy amount of frozen yogurt shops. But something is wrong. And that something, is you. You don’t belong here, you belong in the bad place.
That’s reality for Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell). And if she doesn’t learn how to be good – fast – she might be sent to the bad place.
I love high concept comedy. Especially coming from the people who made Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Parks and Rec – two of the best comedies on network TV. The Good Place is funny. Laugh out loud, call your sister, pause until your face stops hurting funny. Kristen Bell is always a delight. Ted Danson is a comedy master, providing the needed gravitas as the angel Michael. I can’t keep a straight face whenever he opens his mouth.
It’s incredibly enjoyable to watch Eleanor try to hide her badness, even when it starts to ruin the Good Place for everyone else. Especially when she starts dragging her friends into it as well. Although, there appears to be more individuals who aren’t supposed to be in The Good Place as well…
Seriously, watch this show. It’s super funny. Janet is your new favorite robot (not a robot). And this is your new favorite half hour comedy. And when it hits you with an amazing surprise, just thank me for not telling it to you beforehand because I think it’s bloody brilliant.
4 out of 4 stars.
